Aspendos
Perge
Side
There are many other archaeological/historical sites to be found in the region, e.g. Alanya, Olympos, Antalya, Termessos, Selge & Seleukeia. Most are open daily and have an entrance fee (2010 prices for Perge & Aspendos: 15 lira per person each, but younger children are free). There are parking, toilets and refreshments at the larger sites, as well as souvenier shops and market sellers outside. Many of the sites have very little shade, so in summer try to go early in the morning when it will be more comfortable.
Aspendos is 15 mins drive east of the villa. There is a fabulous and extremely well preserved second century amphitheatre and other ruins that can be explored including an aquaduct, council building, basilica, nymphaeum & temple.
Perge is 30 mins drive west. You can see a great example of a Roman bath complex. The pillared streets, agora and city gates give you plenty to explore.
Side is 30 mins drive east. Extensive ruins, include the Temples of Apollo & Athena, a large amphiteatre and well preserved city walls and gate. There is also a museum containing many of the statues recovered in the area.
